The French Laundry Cookbook has a great recipe for conical parmesan crisps filled with a creme fraish (sorry, I can't spell)/goats cheese concoction. They make for excellent finger food.Red Photographyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01002766539964107256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9566587.post-1150727390600532672006-06-19T10:29:00.000-04:002006-06-19T10:29:00.000-04:00You should ask around; I can't believe that Seattl...You should ask around; I can't believe that Seattle would be the only town with a secret tamale lady.

Or you can make them yourself. The trick is to make them waterproof. You know it's only a matter of time before somebody invents a "breakfast tamal."

If you're gonna bust out the team basket for dumplings or tamales, you might think about hum bao, too.jp 吉平https://www.blogger.com/profile/15198270192000552582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9566587.post-1150721585762706782006-06-19T08:53:00.000-04:002006-06-19T08:53:00.000-04:00Waaaaaah!!!!! Baked salmo...Well, I'm from Seattle, so here goes.

Baked salmon filet with chives, black pepper, and soy sauce.

A big ass mess of mussels steamed white wine, with chunks of chorizo, kept warm in a crock pot.

Fresh TAMALES! with fluffy mexican rice and lots of fresh fruit.

Steamed dumplings: pork/shrimp balls, wrapped in chewy wontons.

Mango maki.

Tapas: tortilla espanola, dried sausage, olives, jamon serrano, melons, vino tinto, calamares, pan tomaquet.

I once had a bbq where the only constraint was that no utensils would be used. Grilled filipino skewers (beef, chicken, zucchini), grilled onagi, corn on the cob grilled in its husk...

Ok, obviously I'm more on the "lunch" side of brunch than "breakfast." I get away with calling it "brunch" by having tons of sliced fruit and hot coffee.

I don't know if these are good suggestions; I think you were onto something with mini quiches. If I were having people over, I would just call the secret tamale lady. She delivers batches of steaming tamales to your door.jp 吉平https://www.blogger.com/profile/15198270192000552582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9566587.post-1150491229580121352006-06-16T16:53:00.000-04:002006-06-16T16:53:00.000-04:00Mmmm..bellini's.Okay, okay suggestions:Baked Chees...Mmmm..bellini's.

Okay, okay suggestions:

Baked Cheese Grits (or Polenta)

a Bagel bar (lots of bagels, cream cheese, roasted red peppers, sprouts, lox, tomatoes, lettuce, turkey, etc..)

a Breakfast Pizza

Herb Roasted Potatoes and chorizo

Fried Green Tomatoes (hey, I'm from KY)

Do I really need to go on? Yet again,...I'm so sorry I missed the Pride Parade! Yet again, I was stuck at home with a sinus infection. But I would've loved to be part of the sisterhood with you and my favorite H'ville boys! :-)

As for breakfast ideas... you can't go wrong with fruit. Either in skewer form, or OH MY GOD try to find Paula Deen's recipe for her delicious fruit dip. It has lots of sugar and whipped cream and other fatty, sweet things in it and it will make you weep. What about a frittata you can make beforehand and cut into pieces? Or mini-quiches, always a winner.Stefhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10024186205791001584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9566587.post-1150313029648016942006-06-14T15:23:00.000-04:002006-06-14T15:23:00.000-04:00I like to make french toast casserole. I like to put out whipped cream and special syrups.

Quiche always goes well with brunch. Another idea is doing an egg bake, cutting it into square and making fun egg sandwiches with croissants.culochohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12576715943652731900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9566587.post-1150311157958012152006-06-14T14:52:00.000-04:002006-06-14T14:52:00.000-04:00CHEESE BITES!!!!!!!!! I can't remember the exact measurements off the top of my head, but when I get home tonight, I'll be sure to post the recipe for ya.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9566587.post-1150304814634882472006-06-14T13:06:00.000-04:002006-06-14T13:06:00.000-04:00Oh where do I begin.....let's see, there's stuffed...Oh where do I begin.....let's see, there's stuffed grape leaves. I make mine Vietmanese style with ground beef (Any meat can be subbed). They can be made ahead of time, frozen then thawed before grilling them. Delish and easy to eat with the fingers.

Next, What about Summer Rolls. Fresh, tasty and easy to eat as well.

I've also found that my cheese bites go over extremely well at gatherings. I'll send ya the recipe if you like. It's basically cheddar, butter, flour and lots of cayenne.

On the sweets side go nuts with mini cheesecakes. Or a summertime treat, grilled pineapple with rum. (Again, I have recipes if you want them)

If I come up with more, I'll let ya know.Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16629256296450380665noreply@blogger.com
